Code 3104 Copper Oxide. CuO. This compound gives apple greens under neutral or oxidising conditions, turquoises in alkaline glazes and reds in reduction. If added to a low sol glaze it will dramatically increase the solubility of the lead, making the glaze unsafe for food use. Acts as a secondary flux. 1-2% addition. Harmful.
