Glaze Mixing & Application 2026

This workshop is suitable for beginners to advanced potters.

What you'll learn:

• What is Glaze? Composition and chemistry basics
• Types of glazes (Gloss, Matte, Transparent, opaque)
• tools and materials overview
• Health and Safety

Demonstrations

• Brushing, Dipping, Pouring Techniques
• Layering methods and creating effects

Hands on Practice

• Applying glaze to pre-fired ceramic pieces
• Experimenting with colour combinations
• Texture and decorative techniques

The outcome of the workshop - Participants will leave with a selection of glazed pieces ( to be fired and collected later) and a solid foundation in glazing techniques.

Materials Provided

• Selection of Stoneware Glazes
• Brushes and Glazing tools
• Test tiles and bisque-fired pieces
• Protective equipment

What to Bring

• Apron or old clothing
• Notebook and pen
• Any personal ceramic pieces (optional)
